Documentário | 90 min | 2019

Saint Missionary is the story of the Italian capuchin who arrived in the Brazilian Northeast in the 1930s and that throughout 66 years became a wanderer in search of the salvation of souls. In the process of becoming canonised by the Vatican, it’s left for us to know who Pio Gianotti is, the man before the religious who, since childhood, gave himself to God and His designs. The young seminarist and his sad experience as a soldier during World War I. The fears and desires of this true soldier of the faith. The “behind the curtains” during the Holy Missions in the countryside of the Brazilian Northeast. The health, the disease, the friends and the evangelizing journey companions. Through reconstitutions, never before seen footage and testimonials from people who lived or were touched by his Faith, we present the story of the man behind the Saint; his catechization style, controversies involving politics and conservative sermons, the commotion caused by his departure and reports of miracles that made his fame.
